The quartet "24 Strings Ensemble" was founded in November 2006 by four musicians coming from a solid academic education, but also individually engaged in the field of popular, contemporary, jazz and folk music. The project stems from the need to interpret both pieces from the classical, modern or contemporary repertoire and pop pieces, by composers ranging from Bach, Vivaldi, to Ravel, Fauré, Bartok up to Piazzolla and the Beatles. For this reason, the performances make use of transcriptions and arrangements, resulting from a careful stylistic research by the group members, with strong and exciting impact on the audience which is thus projected between classical and pop music. The quartet received major awards over the years at festivals and national competitions, not least the scholarship "Monte dei Paschi of Siena" assigned by the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in 2008 for best chamber group. The quartet also participated in master classes with prominent teachers in the international guitar scene, such as Oscar Ghiglia, Roland Dyens and Victor Villadangos, and gave concerts in Italy and France. In 2008 the quartet recorded their first CD entitled "Besides", a collection of original pieces and transcriptions that projects listeners on the path connecting classical to pop music. The quartet plays guitars from the luthiers: Andrea Tacchi (Florence), Luciano Lovadina (Treviso), Alan Wilcox (Florence), Manuel Contreras (Madrid). |
